Andrea Juan
Andrea Juan
International artist, curator and director of SM Pro Art.

Since 2000, Andrea Juan has illuminated environmental concerns through her photographic artworks and installations with projections, fabrics and objects, created in natural environments of Antarctica and other magnificent scenarios.
In 2005 she was awarded with the Guggenheim Fellowship, New York.
Since then and until 2014 she carried out projects in Antarctica based on scientific researches on climate change.
She was awarded with several international prizes such as the First Prize in the IV International Art Biennial in Beijing, China; Gold Amazons Award of Benin; the Government of Canada Award (twice); the UNESCO Fellowship, France; United Nations Prize in the Tallinn Triennial, Estonia; Konex Award, Argentina (twice); First and Second prizes in the National Award and National Found for the Arts fellowship both in Argentina; among others.
She was invited to participate in the Biennials of Casablanca, Morocco; Beijing, China; Havana, Cuba; Rotterdam, The Netherlands, among others and in the International Expo Yeosu, Korea and Expo Shanghai, China
Her artworks are in private and public collections among which are Guggenheim Foundation, Museo del Barrio, New York; World Council of People for the United Nations, New York; Building Bridges Art Exchange, Los Angeles and Royal Caribbean International, Miami.
Andrea Juan created SUR POLAR, an international network of environmental artists, and made with them, an important series of exhibitions in Buenos Aires, Madrid, London, Washington, Melbourne, Mexico DC, Quebec, Seville, Bogota, The Hague among others.
She was the curator in chief of the 16 Halls of Impact 10 - Santander 2018 where were exhibited 232 artistic proposals. 
She also made curatorships in Mexico, United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Spain, Australia, the United States, The Netherlands and Russia.
Her most recent exhibitions have taken place at the National Museum of Altamira in Santillana del Mar, Bordeaux, Denver, Bangkok, Santander, Casablanca, Bilbao, Tokyo, Barcelona, Saint Petersburg, New York, Los Angeles, Shanghai, Beijing, Yeosu, Quebec, Sofia, Washington and Buenos Aires.
For more than 20 years she has been professor at the National University in Buenos Aires (Argentina) and, since then and currently, training artists through seminars and workshops both in graphics arts and creation of projects and works
Since 2014, she directs, together with Gabriel Penedo Diego, SM PRO ART CIRCLE.

He designed and created SM Pro Art Circle, based in Cantabria, Spain, with the aim of bringing the public closer to the contemporary arts with creative content and promote ties of union between art and other disciplines producing and supporting multidisciplinary events.
He created and produced exhibitions at OdA, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Setagaya Museum, Tokyo, Japan; Museum of Contemporary Art, Bogota, Colombia; Malvinas Museum, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Casablanca, Morocco; Faculty of Fine Arts, Complutense University of Madrid; Faculty of Fine Arts, University of Barcelona, Spain; RedLine Contemporary Art Center, Denver, USA; Bangkok Art & Culture Center, Bangkok, Thailand; National Museum of Altamira, Santillana del Mar, Spain; among others.
He centralized the collective of environmental artists Sur Polar, developing and enhancing the organization.
Gabriel developed between 2014/2016, the Collaboration Program with the Faculties of Fine Arts of the Spanish Universities, so that young artists participate in the Art Residency program in Antarctica. By virtue of this, the artists from the Universities of the Basque Country, Barcelona, Complutense and Nebrija were selected, who carried out the Art Residency in Antarctica at the end of 2015.
He produced and directed Impact 10, International Multidisciplinary Printmaking Conference in Santander, 2018, bilingual event where more than 400 artists from around the world actively participated in.
 Impact 10 was a printmaking global event in which exhibitions, conference papers, workshops, demonstrations, open portfolios, supply shows and urban spaces shows were held. 
He has designed and created the International Mini Print Cantabria, an annual international small-format print contest, providing the Faro Cabo Mayor Art Center in Santander with an important collection of artworks through the awards and donations from artists.
Together with Andrea Juan, they direct the art programs, guiding and supporting the participating artists through the process of creating their own artworks.
Since 2014, he directs, together with Andrea Juan, SM PRO ART CIRCLE.
